LIU Xin is a designer, director, and transmedia artist based in Boston and Shanghai. He works on various mediums such as architecture, multi-media installations, motion graphics, mixed-realities, and 3d scans. His practice centers around the influence of digital and physical on shifting the boundaries of the design of spaces, objects, and perception experiences in mixed realities.
As the founder of the creative collective Play.Work (aka. playdotwork), Liu has collaborated with Burberry, Polestar Cars, Wallpaper Magazine, NYLON, WhatWorld Club, London Fashion Week, Bosie, Victor Ma 马伯骞, Chris Lee 李宇春, SCI-Arc Robot Lab, etc. Liu is currently a Master of Design candidate at Harvard University Graduate School of Design.
He is the winner of the CGarchitect 3D Awards 2020 in the Student Film category. In 2021, he co-curated the "New Digital Design", an international forum series to promote post-digital and phygital culture across different design fields. In 2019, he was selected as one of 12 artists to hold a solo exhibition at Lianzhou Foto Festival. His works have been exhibited globally, including in New York City, Los Angeles, Liverpool, Beijing, Suzhou, and Shanghai. Liu is travelling around the world seeking inspiration at the convergence of traditional art, new media, and emerging technologies.
