Is there a fee to submit to the competition?
No, there is no fee. It is completely free.
I do not have permissions to show my work until ______. When will my work be shown publicly?
Our current schedule is to announce nominees on October 11, 2021. If your work is nominated we will be making the work public around this timeframe.
Do I need to attend the awards ceremony if I win or am nominated?
Due to the impacts of COVID-19, the D2 Conference was moved to an online event and scheduling no longer aligns with this year's 3D Awards. We will be hosting an online awards ceremony in collaboration with the D2 team, but sadly there will be no live awards event this year.
Does my entry have to be professionally commissioned work to be submitted?
No, anyone can submit to the competition, including student work and work created for your portfolio or as a learning exercise. Please see the explanations of the various categories below.
I created my entry with (insert Software name here) can I still submit?
Yes you can. There are no restrictions on which software you can use to create your submission(s).
I'm having problems uploading, what other options do I have to submit my work?
While most people do not have problems, slow or unreliable internet connections can sometimes cause the upload process to fail. If this happens to you try to send your upload again from a different connection or browser. If you are still experiencing problems, please contact us at email@example.com.
What is the schedule for the competition?

- Call for Submissions: August 5 – September 17 (12:00 Mountain Daylight Time / UTC-7)
- Judging Round: September 20 – October 3
- Tentative Nominees Announced: October 11
- Official Nominees Announced: November 29
- Online Awards Ceremony: December 2
- Winners Announced Online: December 3
What are the differences between the various categories?
My project has been published on another site or in another competition, can I still enter?
Yes, we do not have any requirements for exclusivity. The only requirement is that the project was created or made public in 2020/2021.
When will I receive prizes that were outlined in the prizes section?
Sponsors will attempt to contact each selected winner, nominee, entrant by email in December 2021/January 2022.
I am a student and I created my submissions as part of my class project, can I submit?
Works created by students for the student category must have been completed entirely by the student. No assistance from school staff or other professionals is allowed other than providing basic general guidance. Pre-made scenes provided by the school, scenes that are used as part of a teaching plan or curriculum, and scenes that are not an original creation of the student are not allowed. Scenes found to be in violation of these criteria will be disqualified.
