Night view of the Dubai Pavilion designed by Paul Cocksedge for the UK Pavilion at Dubai Expo 2020. Designed in partnership with IDOM and ARUP. Described as a living watercolour the pavilion has thousands of coloured translucent glass discs overlaid on top of each other. Every colour in the pavilion comes from the flag of a nation exhibiting at the event, expressing unity, partnership and possibility.
Creating the visuals for this project was a real challenge. The way that the discs are overlayed and the way that they interact with each other created technical challenges that we approached using a combination of high-tech 3D processes and artistic post-production techniques.
