Notes
This is a personal project, based on a found old photograph from 1950, Budapest streets. My aim was to recreate the photographic essence as much as possible in 10K resolution - to make suitable for very large print - enriching the composition with the very fine details that were not possible to capture on film back at that time. Everything was rendered, Photoshop was only used for fine color grading and the subtle smoke. Why I felt in love about this particular scene is that it slowly reveals lots of different layers of local and global history, as well as several hidden human traces - without being humans actually present in the image. I found the calmness and quietness of the composition, camera angle and light very strong and unique in our current world full of clever effects, repetitive clichés and bold story telling of architectural visualization and general architectural imagery. Based on the final result I also made some experiments with introducing colors and different light and moods to explore further the scene and composition.
