Carey Jones Chapman Tolcher’s award winning design for 12 Elgin Avenue, London. The scheme delivers a mix of 15 high end residential homes and affordable housing.

Creating a strong sense of quality, character and individual identity within a context dominated by poor quality historic developments in the City of Westminster was the design driver behind the design. The form of the 12 Elgin Avenue responds to a constrained townscape and site conditions and with a clear response; an architecture defined by 3 distinct interlocking forms. These forms are defined by high quality materials, each attributed with their own unique material.

The success of this scheme relied on the high quality details that gave the building its identity. One of the prominent design features is the feature oriel bay windows. These projecting glass boxes are a bespoke, contemporary detail which gives the elevations an element of spontaneity.
