Notes
My solo entry for the ACSA Museum Steel Design competition for 2017. Located on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia, this art museum for the work of Alexander Calder was inspired by the artists' innovative use of steel in sculpture. His ideas of balance and suspension made their way from his mobile structures to a more permanent built form that functions as an art museum and a landmark for the city. A massive public gesture in the form of a walkable sculpture garden serves both local residents of nearby neighborhoods and businesses, while also creating a grand entrance for tourists who visit Philadelphia for the internationally renowned museums located on the Parkway.
