VJ Hinjewadi podium VR experience was created with a view to showcase prospective customers at the launch event what the landscape and amenity areas would look like after completion of construction.
The project consists of 4 buildings as seen in the video (A,B,C,D) and the podium contains most of the common amenity spaces. The clubhouse, stage/mini amphitheatre, children’s play area, and temple are most prominently seen.
The control systems were implemented to make it as easy as possible for people new to VR to pick up and navigate. We had a teleportation function mapped to the trackpad on the HTC Vive controller. Other interactions like toddler’s play equipment and the temple bell (shown in the video) were added to make the VR experience more immersive and easy to connect with for the viewers.
This VR experience was used in 3 all-day launch events for the project. Around 600 families got an opportunity to experience the podium in VR. The drop-off rate for the virtual tour was very low, with most viewers touring the podium and asking for more interior areas to explore.
There were people of all ages, ranging from early 20s to late 80s. Nobody experienced motion sickness or any latency related issues, which was a major win. It was amazing how families came together to enjoy something purely informative in nature.
