Notes
The Tachikawa Children’s Museum.
The proposal for the museum is to enhance educational experiences, which is explorative and interactive. The building offers a series of permanent collections specifically designed as part of the architectural intention and several spaces for temporary collections. The formal composition of the design splits the building into 2 main volumes, a gallery which floats above a glass auditorium and a permanent exhibition ‘Space Discovery’ which sinks into the ground. The structural design of Tachikawa Children’s Museum is derived from principals of traditional Japanese timber construction integrated with contemporary materials.
