The image was created during my ERASMUS stay at Palermo Architecture School part of UNIPA. The image represents a characteristic view of my 4th year project, under the coordination of prof. Cesare Airoldi. The project reflects the design class influences coming from all my former colleagues and the teacher, though, overall, I can't identify any one particular strong influence. The roofing structure reflects an influence from the famous arh. Louis Kahn.
The project was designed in the second semester of my last school year (Feb. 2014 - Jun. 2014)
Notes
The image is representative for the interior design of Palermo's Marina Museum as an extension to the Arsenal historic building in Palermo. The ceiling has mobile shade modules that can be opened or closed in respect to what's being displayed on the museum floor. It also features a recessed area where a real size sail boat is placed, with the water in the basin is directly connected to the nearby sea water so the waves and tides are reflected inwards, inside the museum. The emphasis in this image is on the light and color of the space, trying to achieve a particular atmosphere where the central area of the space behaves like a blank canvas.
