REAL TIME 3D reconstruction of a 10th Century Stronghold. Haskovo, Bulgaria
For this project, the aim was to recreate the stronghold in its most original way, but also to achieve a high quality visualization. Even in Real Time 3D, our goal was to reach photographic realism. As you can see in the film, users can experience the virtual 3D world in Real Time through a touch screen interface. Movements in the scene are completely free and limitless. The film is an editing of real time capture screen movements recorded while the user is experiencing the scene.
For the experience to be richer we set up different parameters of weather and time throughout the day as well as surrounding sound effects that are reacting to the user's position in space. For example, we can hear the fire cracking when close to it and have the sound fade as we move away from it, or hear birds as we go near the woods.
The project was made available for touch-based kiosk devices. We hope that soon in the future, we'll be able to use cordless glasses (like occulus vr) so that visitors can fully immersed in this future-past virtual reality.
