Notes
The core concept behind architectural visualization is to communicate the idea of a designer to their desired audience. A visualization artist works to best understand the idea of the designer, and bring it to life as true to the designer’s intent as possible. Traditionally, visualization is done through illustration, either digitally or by hand.
In keeping with the core idea of visualization, I am bringing to life the vision of a designer, except it is delivered through the user’s smartphone or tablet. With augmented reality, I can depict a final finished structure directly overtop of plan documents, better allowing the audience to understand the relationship between the two, and to better visualize a finished product. Hosting this type of visualization on tablets or smartphones brings a new level of closeness between the designer and their audience. Viewing and understanding the final product is as simple as looking at the screen and rotating the plan drawings.
Architectural Visualization brings the designer to their audience. By utilizing the advent of augmented reality, the distance between the design and their audience is reduced to the familiar screen of a smartphone.
