D-Day to Victory Interactive is an online WWII documentary experience that follows the Allied journey from the D-Day invasion of Normandy to the siege of Berlin. The site is a transmedia extension to the six-part TV documentary series, D-Day to Victory, commissioned by History Television Canada and Channel4 in the UK.
Both the TV series and website feature poignant interviews with surviving veterans, retelling their experiences of the final assault on Nazi-occupied Europe. For many of the veterans, this will be the last time they get to tell their stories. Along with the veterans’ stories, users can browse through biographies and artifacts, and share with others online through Facebook, Twitter and other social networks. To commemorate and honor the veterans, past and present, users can share their thoughts and memories of war through the “Remember Our Heroes” section, where each thought is visualized as a poppy, the international symbol of remembrance.
