Notes
Silent Recall tells the story of a man returning to Bromo after decades away. In his youth, he once stood in awe inside Tanatap Sunrise, an architectural landmark that embraced both mountain and culture. There, he witnessed the Barong Tengger Fire Dance — a performance so vivid, so alive, that it burned itself into his memory.
Years passed. Time moved on. The traditions faded, the dances disappeared, and the once-proud structure was left to decay in silence. Yet the memory remained — an echo he could never shake.
Now, as he walks once more through the weathered halls of Tanatap Sunrise, every step awakens fragments of the past. The laughter, the fire, the rhythm of the dance — though long gone — rise again within him. What was thought to be lost reveals itself to be eternal, living on in memory, untouched by ruin.
Silent Recall is not just about returning to a place. It is about the endurance of culture, the persistence of memory, and the silent yet powerful way the past continues to shape us.
