The aesthetics of the unfinished is also seen as a rebellion against perfectionism. In many cultures, perfection is regarded as the highest standard of beauty, but the aesthetics of the unfinished questions this standard.
Presenting an unfinished work as the final piece creates a dialogue with traditionally "finished" works. In this dialogue, the unfinished work, through contrast and comparison, reveals the limitations of the concept of "completion" and challenges established expectations of art and design.
