Notes
As I looked upon the final rendered image, I was struck by the depth of emotion that it conveyed.
The play of light and shadow was masterful, bringing a richness to the scene that made it feel almost tactile. The composition was strong, drawing the eye to the central figure, and the choice of color palette was sublime, evoking a sense of both desparation and anguish. It was clear that I had put much thought into each element of the scene, from the detailed textures to the careful use of negative space.
Overall, I hope this rendered image serves as a reminder to reflect on the kind of life we want to lead and the kind of "home" environment we want to create - one that nourishes our souls, brings us joy, and reminds us of what truly matters!

The lack of humanism in contemporary architecture and cities is a result of the neglect of our political system towards sensory and behavioral concerns, prioritizing only aesthetics, functionality, and deadlines. This approach leads to the creation of empty and disconnected spaces that have a detrimental impact on mental health in today's society.
The human experience is intricately tied to our spatial experience, and it is crucial that spaces are designed to evoke positive neurological and sensory responses in our bodies and minds. The post-pandemic period has shed light on the alarming rise in anxiety and depression disorders, emphasizing the urgent need for architectural spaces that prioritize mental health and well-being.
Architecture holds the power to be emancipatory and healing. By incorporating principles from environmental and neurological psychology, environmental perception, and the geography of emotions, it can play a transformative role in influencing cognitive and emotional well-being. This entails promoting policies, programs, and strategies that prioritize the mental and emotional needs of individuals.
"E_mpty Spaces, Heavy Hearts" delves into the concept of home, challenging the prevailing notion that it is always a safe haven. It confronts the harsh reality that not all individuals have the privilege of a nurturing and supportive home environment. As a members of a society, we most advocates for architectural designs that provide solace and healing for those seeking refuge within the walls of their homes.
Sadly, not all children have a positive home environment. Some return home to find their loved ones unconscious in a corner, or worse, their homes may be empty altogether. The image underscores the importance of recognizing that every child has the right to humanism, respect, and the freedom to be a child, even when their living conditions are far from ideal. It highlights that "home" should be a place where we can live and interact in a positive and nurturing environment, but acknowledges that this is not always the case, particularly at the present moment.
The primary objective of "E_mpty Spaces, Heavy Hearts" is to stimulate critical thinking and foster the development of more conscientious and impactful architectural practices. This image aims to ignite a transformation in how we perceive and approach the spaces we consider home, promoting designs that prioritize well-being and contribute to positive change in society.
