"Earth, 1985. In the middle of the space race, the world's population is faced with the most serious energy crisis in modern history. During the exploration of a recently discovered planet, a mysterious artifact is found which is capable of producing unlimited energy. . The end of the crisis and the beginning of a new era seem imminent, when the unimaginable happens: once connected to the world grid, the artifact begins to absorb the energy of the remaining sources and generates a magnetic field so powerful as to destroy the life for thousands of km around it.
The catastrophe puts humanity in check. The artifact, which turned out to be a parasite, is not attackable in any way and the lack of resources means that no country risks its stocks for any attempt. Mass evacuation remains the only solution even if impractical for the entire population. The pressures of the wealthier classes and the need to have specific figures to start new colonies split society. The less affluent social classes are abandoned to their fate.
40 years later, one of the few to have survived and never resigned, seems to have found the solution to get close to the parasite and deactivate it. "
