Notes
WHEN dramatically represents 17 futuristic urban environments collated from responses to the Designs for Australia's cities 2050+ competition. These futuristic scenarios dare to imagine Australian urban spaces in 50+ years time, with the intent of 'catapulting urban debate into eye-popping visceral entertainment set in a soundscape'. As such the FloodSlicer team helped select, manage and then worked with 17 separate architectural consortia from all over Australia in the creation of an exhibition to be presented at the Australian Pavilion at the 2010 Venice Biennale of Architecture.
The Exhibition was designed to not only interweave the editorial content but was an investigation into the potential future uses of stereoscopic imaging and animation in architectural representation. As such, each project was selected by FloodSlicer, John Gollings and the Australian Institute of Architects for not only their ideas, but their application in variable types of Stereoscopic depiction. For example much of the flattened stills in this exhibition are actually all about depth perception even to the point of using discomfort as a tool of communication.
Obviously we are unable to show this in the medium but believe it should be noted. Please also note that the exhibition projectors resolution was set to 1920X1200 and hence the letterboxing and the audio was created using a 16 track system designed to change and interweave in the space depending on the audience view point.
